My Beloved Vineyard (ISAIAH 5:1-7) CENTRAL TRUTH: Like a vineyard planted on the best of soils and vines, God planted you in the richness of His grace in Christ. In due time, the Gardener looks for His fruit – the character and conduct of His people. God cannot be blamed for a fruitless life, for fruit reveals the root. The LORD of Hosts is Exalted in Justice (ISAIAH 5:8-23) CENTRAL TRUTH: God not only denounces our sins (declaring it evil), He laments over them (grieving at how it hurts us). These are not so much the sins done against us, but the sins indwelling within us. Over social-reform, God’s justice exalts in self-reform. The Anger of the LORD was Kindled (ISAIAH 5:24-30) CENTRAL TRUTH: The anger of the LORD is kindled on those who deliberately and continuously bait, challenge, and reject God’s Word. His judgment will be swift, thorough, and unavoidable. Let us cut the cord that draws over denies sin. Fear departing God’s side! Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD (ISAIAH 6:1-7) CENTRAL TRUTH: Before a calling from God, there is a conviction within man. See the LORD sitting on His throne, controlling the uncontrollable. Hear the angels of fire endlessly declare His holiness. Feel the burning coal that transforms fleshly power into holy passion.

4/30 Barnabas Life Group4/30/2022 Jesus! What A Friend For Sinners!
by J. Wilbur Chapman (1910) Jesus! what a Friend for sinners! Jesus! Lover of my soul Friends may fail me, foes assail me, He, my Savior, makes me whole. Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah! what a Friend! Saving, helping, keeping, loving, He is with me to the end. Jesus! what a Strength for weakness! Let me hide myself in Him; Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing, He, my Strength, my vict'ry wins. Jesus! what a Help in sorrow! While the billows o'er me roll, Even when my heart is breaking, He, my Comfort, helps my soul. Jesus! I do now receive Him, More than all in Him I find, He has granted me forgiveness, I am His, and He is mine. Pick One and Reflect/Discuss What is a Life Group? Why is it important to be a part of one? What has God been teaching you through ISAIAH chapters 1 through 4? How was your Easter season - did you honor the LORD in a specific way leading up to Easter? Did God teach you a specific truth from our time in 1 CORINTHIANS 15? We've experienced a lot of changes in the past months in our congregation - how has God healed our wounds (ISAIAH 53), shown us what it means to be the "church" as the family of God? Review Past CENTRAL TRUTH’s from the Word of God By His Wounds, We are Healed (ISAIAH 53:1-6) CENTRAL TRUTH: God chose the brokenness of this world to show His strength, dry ground to show His fruit, mundane to show His majesty, sufferings to show His Savior. By His wounds, we look away from our wounds, able to enter back into our brokenness as the Suffering Servant did, but now as healers who bring the peace, unity, and reconciliation we now have in Christ. They Shall Be As White As Snow (ISAIAH 1:1-20) CENTRAL TRUTH: Though we are broken with the scarlet of sins, they shall be as white as snow when reasoning together with the LORD, who turns a double-minded heart into a single-minded devotion for the cross and crown of Jesus Christ. You Shall Be Called the City of Righteousness (ISAIAH 1:21-31) CENTRAL TRUTH: There is a City of Righteousness that we can all return to – where everything is restored to its original beginning, where the purifying fire of the Refiner rebuilds our brokenness to blessing. This city is the church of Jesus Christ! Let Us Go Up to The Mountain of The LORD (ISAIAH 2:1-5) CENTRAL TRUTH: Let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, where there is light to judge our path. This mountain is Jesus Christ, the highest of all summits. The gospel will bring us there together, reconciling us in the wonder of His light. The LORD Alone Will Be Exalted (ISAIAH 2:6-22) CENTRAL TRUTH: The LORD God is sacredly jealous for our undivided worship of Him alone. Knowing our idols are counterfeits of His worth, the day is coming when the LORD will rise to terrorize them with the splendor of His majesty. They Shall Eat the Fruit of Their Deeds (ISAIAH 3:1-26) CENTRAL TRUTH: The fruits of incompetent leadership are shortage, immaturity, division, and despair in God’s community. Trust in the LORD above instead of follow a leader below. Only then, we can say with Jesus, “Follow me.” PALM SUNDAY: Behold, Your King Is Coming to You (MATTHEW 21:1-11) CENTRAL TRUTH: For the final time, Jesus courageously enters the city that will put Him to death within days. Behold, our coming King, whose triumph is in submission, whose power is in being needy, whose praise is in showing mercy. Let our palm branch rise to this Hosanna! EASTER: We Shall All Be Changed! (1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-11, 20-22, 50-58) CENTRAL TRUTH: What is of first importance is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day according to Scripture. By this, we shall all be changed, raised into an imperishable body that swallows death and abounds in life for the Lord’s work. The Branch of the LORD Shall Be Beautiful and Glorious (ISAIAH 4:1-6) CENTRAL TRUTH: For the faithful few remaining through God’s judgment, the promise of Jesus Christ is all the more beautiful and glorious. Like a fire through the dark night, a shade from the day’s heat, a shelter through life’s storms, Jesus prevails as the only branch for fruit. Praying Together & Praying Scripture “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. (ISAIAH 1:18) and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” (ISAIAH 2:3) Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. (ISAIAH 3:10) But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (ISAIAH 53:5) For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures (1 CORINTHIANS 15:3-4) Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18) … do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7) |
