Pray through ACTS - (A)doration, (C)onfession, (T)hanksgiving, (S)upplication:

  • ADORATION - Pray by adoring, worshipping, and exalting in the character of God our Father through Jesus Christ our Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling us.
    • Acknowledge Jesus - His identity and work
    • Declare the truth of the gospel
    • Declare the truth in Scripture about prayer
      • The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. -JAMES 4:16
      • Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18
      • And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him. -1 JOHN 5:14-15
      • … if my people who are called by my Name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. -1 CHRONICLES 7:14
      • … do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
      • But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. -MATTHEW 5:44
      • Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. -MATTHEW 26:41
      • Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. -JOHN 16:24
      • Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! -MATTHEW 7:7-11
  • CONFESSION - Pray by agreeing with the Lord about our sinfulness that results in the brokenness of our lives. Pray by turning from your sins to be embraced by God's grace, knowing that God is faithful and just, and has forgiven us of all sins past, present, and future. Pray by resolving to see God's love to save is greater than your will to sin. Resolve to face your sins, failures, and battles from the victory Jesus achieved already on our behalf!
  • THANKSGIVING - Pray by unleashing the joy of the Lord as your strength with a thankful heart in all circumstances. Condition your thankfulness not on what's happening around you, but on who is residing in you. Pray by giving thanks to God so that every thankless situation will be flipped into a thanksgiving opportunity, with power to embrace all the valleys of life.
  • SUPPLICATION - Without an anxious heart, pray by presenting your requests to God, who gives peace beyond understanding even as the requests are left unanswered and on hold.
